Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about creating highlight reels with Scout Reel. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact our support team.

Getting Started

How does Scout Reel work?

Upload your game footage, tell us your athlete's jersey number, and our AI analyzes the entire game to find the best plays. You review and customize the highlights, then generate a professional reel to share with coaches. The whole process takes about 2 hours—not 2 weekends.

What video formats do you accept?

We accept MP4, MOV, AVI, and most common video formats. Files up to 10GB are supported. Standard smartphone video quality (720p or 1080p) works great—you don't need professional equipment.

What sports do you support?

We currently support soccer (our most popular sport), basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, and volleyball. Our AI is trained on thousands of games in each sport to understand what plays matter. More sports are added regularly based on demand.

How long does it take to process a video?

Most games are fully analyzed within 2 hours. You'll receive an email notification when your highlights are ready to review. Season Pass members get priority processing, typically under 1 hour.

Pricing & Plans

Is there really a free option?

Yes! Your first highlight reel is completely free. It includes 720p quality with a small Scout Reel watermark. No credit card required—just sign up and upload your first game.

What's the difference between a single reel and a Season Pass?

Single reels are $29 each—perfect if you only need one or two reels. The Season Pass ($149) gives you unlimited reels for the entire season, plus priority processing and no watermarks. Most families save money after their third reel.

Can I get a refund?

Due to the computational cost of AI video processing, we can't offer refunds once processing has started. However, if you're unhappy with your reel, contact us—we'll work to make it right or apply credit to a future reel.

Do you offer team or club discounts?

Yes! We offer special pricing for clubs and teams. Contact us at teams@scoutreel.com for a custom quote based on your roster size.

Video & Quality

What video quality do I need to upload?

Standard smartphone video (1080p) is ideal, but 720p works fine too. Our AI is designed to work with real sideline footage—shaky camera, crowd noise, and all. You don't need a professional videographer.

What if the AI misses some of my athlete's best plays?

You're always in control. After AI detection, you can review all identified highlights and add any clips it might have missed. You can also remove plays you don't want included. The final reel is completely customizable.

How long should my highlight reel be?

We recommend 60-90 seconds. College coaches watch hundreds of recruiting videos—they typically decide within the first 30 seconds whether to keep watching. Quality over quantity. Put your best plays first.

Can I include footage from multiple games in one reel?

Yes! Season Pass members can combine highlights from multiple games into a single reel. Single-reel purchases are per game, but you can purchase additional reels to combine later.

Sharing & Recruiting

How do I share my reel with coaches?

Each reel gets a unique shareable link that works anywhere—email, social media, recruiting platforms. You can also download the video file (MP4) to upload directly to platforms that require it.

Can I see who watched my reel?

Yes! We provide basic analytics including number of views, average watch time, and geographic location of viewers. This helps you understand which coaches are engaging with your content.

Will Scout Reel guarantee my athlete gets recruited?

No, and we'd be suspicious of anyone who makes that promise. Scout Reel is a tool to help your athlete be seen. Getting recruited depends on many factors including athletic ability, academic standing, and fit with programs. We help with the visibility piece—the rest is up to you and the coaches.

Can I use my reel on social media?

Absolutely! Your reel is yours to share however you want. Many athletes post to Twitter/X, Instagram, and TikTok. The shareable link works on all platforms, or download the file to upload natively.

Privacy & Safety

Who can see my videos and reels?

Your uploaded game footage is private—only you can access it. Highlight reels are private by default and only become viewable when you generate and share the link. You control who sees what.

Is my athlete's information safe?

We take privacy seriously, especially for minor athletes. We never sell your data, use industry-standard encryption, and give you full control over what information is included in your athlete's profile. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can delete individual videos, reels, or your entire account at any time. Deleted content is removed from our active systems within 30 days and from backups within 90 days.

Technical Support

My video won't upload. What should I do?

First, check that your file is under 10GB and in a supported format (MP4, MOV, AVI). If issues persist, try a different browser or upload from a computer instead of mobile. Still stuck? Contact support@scoutreel.com with your file details.

The AI didn't detect my athlete correctly. Can this be fixed?

Sometimes jersey detection can be tricky with poor lighting or similar colors. During the review phase, you can manually select clips featuring your athlete. If detection consistently fails, contact support—it helps us improve.

How do I contact support?

Email support@scoutreel.com and we'll typically respond within 24 hours. Season Pass members get priority support with faster response times.
